Licenses

Using our patterns

Free patterns: make as many pieces as you like for yourself and as gifts. The two paid licenses below cover selling what you make and teaching classes.

All-Access Pass: Sell What You Make License

This license comes with the All-Access Pass from kinusaiga.org. It explains, in plain English, how you may sell the kinusaiga pieces you make from our patterns.

1. Who is who

  • We, us: Reshot Technologies, a French SAS at 60 rue François 1er, 75008 Paris, France, which operates kinusaiga.org.
  • You: the person who bought the All-Access Pass, named on the order.
  • Our patterns: the free patterns on kinusaiga.org and the patterns in our paid collections that your pass gives you access to.
  • Pattern files: the PDFs, SVGs, cut maps, colour guides, fabric lists and any other files or printouts of our patterns.
  • A piece: a finished kinusaiga picture (or ornament) that you make by hand from one of our patterns.

2. What you may do

You may sell the pieces you make by hand from our patterns:

  • Anywhere: at craft fairs and markets, in a shop, online (your own site, Etsy and other marketplaces, social media), at events.
  • As commissions: made to order, including custom colors, a customer's own fabric, or a different board size.
  • In any number. There is no limit on how many pieces you make or sell.
  • Framed or unframed, alone or as part of a gift set.
  • With photos: you may photograph your own pieces and use those photos in your listings and posts.

You may make pieces with help from others (a family member, a friend at the table), as long as each piece is made by hand.

3. What you may not do

You may not:

  • Sell, share or give away the pattern files, in any form: digital, printed, traced or redrawn. This includes uploading them, posting them, or sending them to customers.
  • Sell kits that contain our patterns. A kit with a printed cut map, a colour guide, a pre-scored board made from our patterns or pre-cut fabric pieces from our templates needs a separate license. Write to hello@kinusaiga.org.
  • Mass-produce by machine without our written permission: for example laser-cut or CNC-scored boards, laser-cut fabric, or kits made with those machines.
  • Use our photos (the photos and renders on kinusaiga.org) to sell your pieces. Use photos of your own work.
  • Claim the pattern design as your own, for example by describing it as your original pattern or offering it as a pattern for others to make.

Teaching classes with our patterns is covered by the Class Host Pack, not by this license.

4. Credit

Credit is appreciated, not required. If you would like to add it to a listing or a label:

Pattern: kinusaiga.org

5. How long it lasts

The All-Access Pass is a one-time purchase that does not expire. You may sell pieces under this license for as long as your pass is valid.

If your pass ends for any reason (for example, a refund), you may still sell any piece you made while the pass was valid, at any time. You may not sell new pieces made from paid-collection patterns after that.

6. Ownership

We keep all rights in our patterns and pattern files. You own the physical pieces you make. This license is personal: you may not pass it to someone else or sublicense it.

7. If the terms are broken

If you break these terms, we may end this license by writing to you. If you can fix the problem (for example, by removing a shared file or a kit listing), we will give you 14 days to do so first. Pieces you made and sold within the terms before then are not affected.

8. Contact

Class Host Pack: Teaching License

This license comes with the Class Host Pack from kinusaiga.org. It explains, in plain English, what you may do with the pack and with our patterns when you teach.

1. Who is who

  • We, us: Reshot Technologies, a French SAS at 60 rue François 1er, 75008 Paris, France, which operates kinusaiga.org.
  • You: the person or organization that bought the Class Host Pack, named on the order.
  • The pack: the Facilitator Guide, Participant Handout, Supply Checklist, Sign-up Sheet and this license, as PDF files.
  • The class patterns: the ten patterns listed in the Facilitator Guide (Sunset Over Rolling Hills, Simple Rainbow, Pinwheel Quilt Block, Autumn Leaves, Patchwork Heart, Christmas Stocking, Little Sailboat, Friendship Star Quilt Block, Moon and Stars, Four Seasons Tree).
  • Free patterns: any pattern that kinusaiga.org offers as a free download during your license, including the class patterns.
  • Pattern materials: the cut maps, colour guides, fabric lists and other pages of a pattern's files.

2. Who the license covers

One license covers one of these:

  • One venue: one physical location run by one organization, for example one library branch, one craft studio, one quilt shop, one winery or bar. Any instructor teaching for that venue at that location is covered.
  • One independent teacher: one named person, who may teach at any number of locations.

A library system with several branches, or a business with several shops, needs one license per location. A team of independent teachers needs one license per teacher.

3. How long it lasts

12 months from the date of purchase.

4. What you may do

During your license, you may:

  • Teach classes using the class patterns and any free pattern, in person, as many times as you like, for any number of participants.
  • Charge for your classes, or run them for free.
  • Print the pattern materials and the pack's handouts, checklists and sign-up sheets, in unlimited copies, to use in your classes and to hand to your participants.
  • Make and sell kits for your own classes: prepared boards (scored or not), fabric and printed pattern materials, given or sold to people who sign up for one of your classes, including take-home kits sold at the class.
  • Adapt the guide for your own use: change the run sheet, rewrite the script, translate the handout for your participants.
  • Recolor a pattern for your class, or print it at another board size.
  • Show the patterns in your class listings, for example a photo of your own finished sample.

5. What you may not do

You may not:

  • Share the files. Do not send, email or give the PDF files (or other digital files) of the pack or the patterns to anyone outside your venue, or to your participants. Printed copies are fine.
  • Upload the files anywhere public or shared: websites, social media, shared drives open to others, class platforms, file-sharing sites.
  • Resell the pack or any part of it, in print or digital form, outside the class kits described in section 4.
  • Sell the patterns themselves, printed or digital, or include them in kits sold to people who are not taking your class, in pattern books, or in products for other shops.
  • Claim the patterns or the pack as your own work, or remove our name from them.
  • Use patterns from paid kinusaiga.org collections (such as the Christmas Collection) under this license. Write to us if you want to teach with them.

Your participants can always download the free patterns themselves from kinusaiga.org. You may give them the link at any time.

6. Credit

Please credit us in your class listings and on printed materials you make, for example:

Pattern: kinusaiga.org

The participant handout already carries this line. Please leave it on, and leave our name on the pattern pages you print.

7. Renewing

To keep teaching after 12 months, buy the Class Host Pack again. Each purchase covers 12 months from its own purchase date. The price may change; the price shown at checkout applies.

8. If you stop

When your license ends and you do not renew:

  • You may not start new classes with the class patterns or the pack, or sell new kits.
  • A class already scheduled and paid for by participants before the end date may still go ahead, if it takes place within 30 days of the end date.
  • Your past participants keep their printed copies, their kits and the pieces they made.
  • You may keep your copy of the files for your records.
  • Anyone, including you, may still use the free patterns for personal use under the terms on kinusaiga.org.

9. Ownership

We keep all rights in the patterns, the pack and their contents. This license gives you permission to use them as described above. It does not transfer ownership, and you may not pass the license to someone else.

10. If the terms are broken

If you break these terms, we may end your license by writing to you. If you can fix the problem (for example, by taking down an uploaded file), we will give you 14 days to do so first.

11. Your class is yours

You run your classes: the venue, the safety of your participants, your prices, your taxes and any waivers are your responsibility. The pack gives practical guidance from makers' published experience; follow your own venue's rules as well.

12. Contact

Questions, a larger license (several venues, kits for sale outside your classes, paid collections): hello@kinusaiga.org.
