Colour guide + true-scale cut maps for 8, 6 and 5 inch boards. No sign-up.

Cut map as SVG (any size, for Cricut or large boards)

How to make it

  1. Print and prepare. Print the cut map for your board size at 100 % (check the 1 in square). This pattern is drawn for an 8 x 8 in board; the 6 in version is fine too, the 5 in one is for patient hands.
  2. Score the grooves. Tape the pattern onto the foam and cut along every line about 1/8 in (3 mm) deep, cutting through the paper. Peel the paper away.
  3. Cut the fabric. You need 6 fabrics; the biggest is A (tomato red), about 29% of the board. Cut each piece about 1/4 in larger than its shape.
  4. Tuck. Start with the large background pieces, then work towards the front. Press the fabric into the grooves with your tool and trim any excess before the last tuck.
